Death: Date of death is not on tombstone. Obituary says: "Mrs. Malinda
Carpenter, 93, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ervin Lovely of
Bloomington Magoffin Co. on Fri. May 17. Mrs. Carpenter was the widow
of the late W. M. Carpenter who preceded her in death about 33 years
ago. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Ervin (Mary) Lovely,
Bloomington; Mrs. H. C. (Sola) Franklin of Malone; Mrs. Floyd (Martha)
Howard, West Liberty. Mrs. Albert (Rose) McGuire of Ardmore, OK
preceded her in death about 9 years ago. (She leaves ) 8 children, 21
grandchildren and a large number of great grandchildren and more than
20 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Carpenter was the sister of George
Carpenter, a Salyersville banker who passed away about 10 years ago.
She was the last survivor of a large well-known pioneer family of
eastern Kentucky. For the last 20 years, "Aunt Linda" as she was knows
to her friends and acquaintances, made her home among her daughters'
homes. During the last five years she was unable to walk because of an
injury received by a fall but was able to go about in a wheel chair.
Over 40 years ago she united with the Baptist Church and lived and
practiced the Christian way of life until the end. Funeral rites were
held in the Baptist Church in Salyersville, May 19th amidst a vast
crowd of relatives and friends. Burial in the Carpenter Cemetery near
Royalton with the Prater Funeral Home in Charge."

I wanted to mail you to tell you I am the great great granddaughter of Isaiah "Zer" Salyer and great great granddaughter of Polly Ann Carpenter (Salyer) I have noticed on your genealogy page that that's where the branch of that family ends....well I asked my grandfather and he said in 1901 my great great grandfather and great great grandmother moved from Salyersville KY, to Chickisha Indian Territory, (Oklahoma was not yet a state then) and then three years after that moved to Yell Co., Arkansas and that is where the majority of Isaiah and Polly's ancestors are today -- in Eastern Oklahoma. If you will note that the death of Jerry Wayne Salyer in 1996 Ended the Salyer name on our Direct Line, also if you will notice on my mother and father, aunt and uncle, my mother married my aunts brother and my aunt married my moms brother so there was no inbreeding going on it was just in-laws marrying in-laws. So My brother Kevin William Dever and I are double blooded cousins with Shelia (Shelly) Donnell Salyer and Jerry Wayne Salyer. Shadarrell Salyer has a daughter I don't know her name we don't keep in close contact. Anita Gail Salyer and Ronnie Frazier's children have children of their own also but I don't keep in close contact with them either.
