He was awarded: 2 Bronze Stars with a V for Valor; 2 Silver Stars with a V for Valor; Air Force Cross, Purple Heart with 7 Stars; Vietnamese Medal of Gallantry. Minor awards included: Vietnam Service Ribbon; Good Conduct Medal; Jump Wings; Special Award of Combat Infantryman's Badge; Expert Marksman Badge. He received a Field Commission to First Lieutenant, 1 Mar 1965; Ed was promoted to Captain, 1 Jun 1966.
