Valerie Brock, 10190 E. St. Rd. 8, Knox, IN 465334 e-mail (kbgrinder@skynet.net) is the gr/dau of Epp Joseph and Susie Bradley. She was checking our Wireman book and found that we had Susie's mother listed as Catherine "Katie" Wireman married to Arzanus Bradley, son of Buck. She writes that she always thought Susie's father was James Bradley and it would appear that she is correct.
The 1900 Knott Co. census has James Bradley b. 1870, wife Katie b. 1873 with children: Liberty Bradley b. 1891, Margaret Bradley b. 1892, Susannah Bradley b. 1893, Preston Bradley b. 1896, and Landen Bradley b. 1896. The 1910 Knott Co. census has Anderson Bradley at age 46 with wife Katie (her 2nd marriage). She was the mother of 12 children and 8 were living. In the household were Selden age 7, George Jr. age 3 and Suel age 7/12. Anderson and Katie had been married 9 years. I don't know James Bradley's parents.
The 1900 Breathitt Co. census lists James Buck Bradley b. 1859. He married in 1880 to Martha Manns b. 1865 (his 2nd wife). He was married first to Malinda Howard. The children were Arzanus Bradley b. 1878, Solomon Bradley b. 1885, Chester Bradley b. 1893, and Charlie Bradley b. 1900.
The above James Buchanon Bradley was the son of James Bradley b. 1812 and Elizabeth Howard b. 1814 and the above James was the son of George Bradley and Elizabeth Briggs.
Perhaps someone can tell us the parents of James Bradley b. 1870. (Information from Todd Preston's column of the November 19, 1998 issue of the SALYERSVILLE INDEPENDENT newspaper.)
