Bertha's parents are listed in the MCHS publication: Legends in Blue and Gray, p. 839 as Benjamin F. Howard and Louisa Higgins. I have a Benjamin F. Howard who whould have been 57 at the time of ths Bertha's birth. His wife is listed as Eliza Higgins. No date of birth is given for her. Eliza and Louisa could be the same person. (LL-Jun 2001)
