Salyer, "The Salyer Family: Genealogy and Records of Their First 250 Years in America," 1st ed., American Memoirs Pub., Stuart, FL, 1982: He [Zachariah] owned in excess of 1000 acres of land in a mountainous area of North Carolina [probably by squatter's rights and occupation of seven years] and may have been riding through the forest when he was attacked by a mountain lion (panther). Zachariah is mentioned in several documents as owing taxes in Chowan County, NC. He seems to have tried to evade paying taxes by moving and hiding from the authorities. He was also prosecuted for non-payment of debts."

The Jeremiah who married Esther Green may not be the same Jeremiah who married Jane McCullough in Rowan Co., NC. He is assumed to be the brother of Samuel and Zachariah Salyer based on the fact that a Jeremiah, Zachariah, and Samuel Salyer were all residents of northeastern North Carolina in 1754.
Death: One source shows that Jeremy died Mercer Co., KY in 1795.
