Salyer, CA was named after Charles Marshall Salyer, s/o of Henry Jackson Salyer and Rachel McKinster. Henry Jackson was s/o David Jackson Salyer, s/o Levi Salyer, s/o Zachariah Salyer, s/o Zachariah Salyer, Sr.

Charles Marshall Salyer was born 29 Dec1888 in Johnson Co, KY, d.10 Sept 1966 Weaverville,Trinity Co, CA, came to California around 1913/14 and purchased a 100 acre ranch in the Trinity Valley put in orchards and started a cannery, also into mining. The people of the area signed a petition to have a post office established in the, then unnamed, community. After several sugestions the obvious decision of Salyer was chosen.

Salyer, CA was named after C.M. Salyer b. in 1888 in Johnson Co, KY. C.M. Salyer was the son of Henry Jackson Salyer and Catherine Connely. Charles Marshall Salyer was the oldest brother of my Grandfather Luther.
