Occupation: During the Civil War, Martin enlisted in the Northern Army and fought against six of his brothers and father. He enlisted in the 14th regiment Indiana Volunteers and later served in Company C, 55th Kentucky Infantry. He was captured, scheduled to be shot, and was rescued by one of his brothers. He was discharged as a Corporal. After the war he moved to Texas then on to New Mexico and Colorado. In 1889 he was living at Pine River, LaPlata Co., Colorado.
