Death: "His (Charles [Sallier] Salyer) whereabouts prior to 1693 and after 1732 are unknown. There is nothing in any record thus far located to justify even an approximation of his birth and death dates. His wife in 1693 was Mary Jones. Their marriage record has not been found but deeds prove that Mary was a daughter of Benjamin Jones of Woodbridge, NJ, and also indicate that perhaps Charles Sallier had been previously married. Between 1693 and 1697 Charles Sallier and his wife Mary Jones had three children whose births were recorded in Woodbridge, NJ Town Books: Benjamin Sallier, 4 Dec 1693, Mary Sallier 17 Oct 1695, Charles Sallier 23 Dec 1697. A Charles Sallier, possible the son born in 1697, served in the Woodbridge Militia in 1715."

Marriage: "The Salyer (Sallier) surname is of French origin. The original Salyer may have been a French Huguenot who came to this country for religious freedom.
"Saylor, Sailor, Dancer, Hopper and Tripp all danced at fair and festival. The first two names do sometimes designate a seaman, but the more usual derivation is from Old French SAILLEUR 'dancer,'" AMERICAN SURNAMES.
