Margaretta PATRICK:

Birth: Caleb May was born in 1781 probably in North Carolina and died in April 1827 Floyd Co. KY. He was married in 1801 in Russell Co. VA to Margaretta Patrick who was born 9 Feb 1783 Lee Co. VA and died 13 Dec 1861 Magoffin Co. KY. She was the daughter of William Patrick.
This May family was first found in Kentucky on Shelby Creek in Pike Co. KY and then moved to Johnson Co. KY to the area now known as Hager Hill. The family next moved to the head of the Burning Fork on the Licking River where Ivyton now stands. By 1820 Caleb moved his family two miles west of present day Salyersville, KY on the Licking River. Oral history tells he was a Kentucky Baptist preacher and died of cancer of the breast. His wife Margaretta died at age 91 after a fall from a horse.
There are ten known children for Caleb and Margaretta May. They are (1) John May b. 1802 VA d. 1865 probably Morgan Co. KY m. in 1821 Floyd Co. KY to Sarah Elizabeth Adams b. 1800 d. 1884, dau of Isaac Adams, (2) William "Billy" May b. 1804 VA death date not presently known, married 1. 1824 to Dolly Linden and m. 2nd. in 1833 to Sarah Minix, (3) David May b. 1806 VA d. 1855 Floyd Co. KY m. 1827 to Nancy Power b. 1810 d. 1889, dau of Lewis Power and Elizabeth Prater, (4) Blair May b. 1808 probably Russell Co. VA d. 1858 Floyd Co. KY m. 1829 Sarah Adams b. 1810 d. 1887, dau of Stephen Adams and Mary "Polly" Holbrook, (5) James "Turkey Jim" May b. 1811 d. 1890 Elk Creek, Magoffin Co.
