My husband's maternal grandmother was Martha (Bradford) Howard who married Edward (Ned) Ousley. She also was a child of William (Doc) Howard and Louisa Bradford. William was married at least 3 times but to the best of my knowledge Louisa never married. She and William had at least 6 children together. Louisa Bradford was the daughter of Saunders and Sarah Ann (Pridemore) Bradford. In the KY Vital Statistics whenever Martha would have a baby, sometimes she gave her maiden name as Howard and at other times it would be Bradford? Also, I have that Fairish "Fair" Shepherd did marry a Lourany Howard. Lourany was a child of William Doc Howard and his 2nd wife, Eliza Jane Johnson. If you need anymore information just let me know.

According to the HOWARD FAMILY BOOKS published by the Magoffin Co. Historical Society it states:
William"Doc" married:
Luanna Arnett- 3-6-1866 d/o Reubin and Lurany (Jones) Arnett
Eliza Jane Johnson 4--18-1872
Sarah Ann Conley- d/o David and Galathia (Hicks) Conley

My husband is a gr-grandson of William "Doc" Howard and Louisa Bradford. They were never married but had at least 6 children together. 1. William "Preacher" Bill married Nancy Conley, 2. Dora married Leck Shepherd, 3. Nelson, 4. Belle married Dan Wireman, 5. Sebastian, and 6. Martha married Edward " Ned" Ousley ( my husband's grandparents). Hope this helps, Donna

I have a Dock Howard in my Magoffin County Marriages. It is listed: Dock Howard married Elsie Ivens on 23 January 1905 at Persilla Howard's home. Wit: Wilbron Hall and A.J.Howard, B.G. Howard, Minister Christian Church.

The second listing is listed as: Dock Howard married Cora Davis on 13th January 1906 at Percilla Howard's home. Wit: A. J.Howard, and Albert Howard, I. C. Howard, M.C.C.

Death: Obit: Mrs. Sally Howard, 81, died at 10:15 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 14, 1960) at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Shepherd of Dry Run. She had been ill a month.
Mrs. Howard was born March 4, 1878 in Floyd County, KY., a daughter of Brice and Easter Salyers Shepherd.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nero Howard, in 1913; two daughters, four brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Queen Arnett of Prestonsburg, KY., and Mrs. Lula Collins of Duco, KY., sis sons, Troy, Roy, Brady and Monroe all of Dry Run, and August, now serving with the U.S. Navy in Cuba; five daughters, Mrs. Alabam Shepherd of Waverly, Mrs. Cora Bradford and Mrs,. Peggy Shepherd of Dry Run, Mrs. Zel Bolton of Pond Creek, and Mrs. Easter Lambert of Willard, Ohio; a step-son, Morgan Howard of Portsmouth Rt. 3; a half-brother Robert Shepherd of KY; 47 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Howard was a member of Pine Grove United Baptist Church, where funeral services are to be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Sandy Phillips and Rev. Archie Patrick officiating. Interment is to be in Adams Cemetery.
Friends may call at the home of the daughter, Peggy Shepherd after 6 p.m. today and until 1 p.m. Wednesday. Lynn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
