03-22-1940: Obituary obtained from the Rochester Times-Union Friday March 22, 1940, p. 13-A. Rosario died in his 84th year at his home at 25 University Avenue. he is survived by two sons, Anthony of Rochester and Paul of Syracuse; one daughter, Miss Mary N. Maschiri; one grandchild, Lucille. Funeral on Monday March 25, 1940 at 8:30 AM from his home at at 9:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Rosario's death (3-22-40) followed the death of his wife, Lucia (10-24-39), by just 6 months, almost to the day.
University Avenue is in an area just north of downtown Rochester, not far from where his wife's brothers lived, Rosario Mascari lived at 14 McFarlin Street and S. Matthew Mascari lived at 9 Weld Street. Both University and Weld Street run off of North Street, Weld being about 2 blocks north of University. The site of 25 University Avenue is now a vacant lot on the south side of University, very close to the intersection of University and North. All are very close to the site of where St. Joseph's Church was.

Maschiri, born in Termini, and Filippa Romano, born in Termini. (I think the "Francisco" is supposed to be "Francesco." We know the "Maschiri" is really "Mascari." This is the first note we have of Filippa's last name of "Romano"). He died of chronic myocardidits of 5 years duration. The episode of myocarditis that lead to his death occured from March 16, 1940 until March 22, 1940. The attending physician is Hiram Olsan or Okan, M.D., of 395 Canterbury Road. 29 Feb 1944: Obituary of her daughter, Josephine "Jesse" Mascari Caito, notes that her mother, Anna, was still living at the time of Josephine's death (her father, Frank, was already deceased according to the obit). Death certificate of Josephine (on file) lists her mother's name as "Guglimino." Obituary of Anna (July 2, 1950) lists a sister with the name Mrs. Guiseppa "Guglielmino." The spelling in Anna's obituary is probably the more correct one. However, it would be unusual for Anna's sister to have the same married name as her maiden name. The death certificate of her son, Samuel [on file - died May 29, 1973 (and Josephine's brother)] lists his mother's maiden name as "Williams." The maiden name "Williams" would make more sense since she has brothers by the name of "Williams" (and also 'LaNasa") and this would make sense for her sister to have a married name of Guglielmino (as HER maiden name would have been "Williams").
1 Jul 1950: Obituary notes that she is survived by her six daughters: Misses Anna, Mary, Geraldine, Alice Mascari and Mrs. Sullivan Parisi of Waterford and Mrs. Frederick (Florence) Brooks. Also, four sons: Samuel, Charles, Anthony, Joseph, all of Wilkes-Barre, PA.
