Lucia is working as a Registered Nurse at Detroit Receiving Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. At the same time she is studying at Wayne State University to become a nurse anesthetist. Lucia and her cousin, Deena, went to Europe for a month after they graduated from college. Once again Lucia is traveling, this time to Italy with a friend and his family. (Jul 1998)

Lucia has met the love of her life at Detroit Receiving. He is an Orthopaedic Resident planning to finish June of 2002.

Robert Meehan, "Bobby," is the oldest of five children from Nebraska. His parents are divorced; his mom lives in Littleton, CO and his dad lives in Bellevue, NE.

A lovely luncheon was held following the baptism at Dearborn Country Club.

Birth: Robert arrived at 8:30 AM, about one week early. He weighed 9# 7 oz and was 22 inches long. Mother and son are fine.

The luncheon was held at Henry Ford Village - where Robby's grandmother Peggy works. Dearborn Country Club was not available.

Marriage: Activities abounded for Lucia and Bobby's wedding. Thursday, 9 Aug 2001 was the Rehearsal Dinner held at the Henry Ford Estate. Friday, 10 Aug 2001 was a family and close friends barbecue at Peggy's house. Finally the happy couple exchanged their vows at Divine Child Catholic Church. Lucia's sister Lisa, and Lucia's best friend Amy, were co-matrons of honor. Bobby's brother was his best man; his sister was one of the bridesmaids as was Lucia's cousin Deena. Lucia's youngest two siblings Leah and Lauren were also in the wedding party. Bobby's mother, step-father and father were in attendance. Between the ceremony and the reception guests were invited back to Lucia's mother's house for beverages and snacks. The reception was held at the Fairlane Club in Dearborn with good food, good company and music to round out the evening. Sunday, 12 Aug 2001 was the afterglow at Lucia's father's cottage near Brooklyn, MI, in the Irish Hills. Whew! The bride and groom were smiling throughout all the days' and evenings' activities, finally departing for their week long honeymoon on Santa Lucia Island on Monday, 13 Aug 2001.

This will be changed by Lucia when she comes over. But - as I understand it, Lucia, Bobby and several other members of her family were visiting her mother's family in New York over the Memorial Day weekend. Lucia made a comment about what a beautiful view it was (they had been climbing) and how nice it would be to become engaged at that location when Bobby went down on bended knee and asked Lucia to marry him. He "whipped out the ring" and Lucia said yes. Upon telephoning her father in Michigan, he said: "He didn't ask me!"

Hello everyone,
I know this is not too personal but I have such good news that I want all of you to know. If you're in my address book you must hold a special place in my heart.
So here it is...
THE OFFICIAL NOTICE.
On Sunday, May 28th, 2000 in Skaneateles, New York Robert Meehan Junior took me to Carpenter Falls and while my little brother and sister were taking pictures he got down on one knee and proposed to me behind the water falls. I was very surprised! (as were my sister and brother.)
He carried the ring around burning a hole in his pocket for two days.
It was quite romantic except for the fact that it was dangerous and slippery and we had to hike down 50 feet to the bottom just so that he could get the perfect place.
As of 11:30 am we are engaged!
Of course, I had the cell phone in the middle of the woods and was able to call my dad and best friend immediately!
The ring is an emerald cut HUGE diamond. Thanks to my brother-in-law Jim and sister Lisa.
I want you all to be a part of the celebration in some way.
