Michigan quarter to debut Jan. 26

DEARBORN - Jan. 26 can't come soon enough for James Marusak.
That's when Michigan's quarter will debut.
“This is a huge deal,” said coin collector Marusak, who manages Central Coin & Stamp Inc. on Ford Road. “I've been getting about 10 calls a day asking when the coin is going to be released.”
The first minting of the Michigan quarter began this week. It is the 26th coin to be released in the U.S. Mint's 50 State Quarters program, which began in 1999.
The U.S. Mint is printing the coins in the order the states were admitted to the union. Michigan was the 26th state, admitted Jan. 26, 1837.
The coin's Jan. 26 release will be marked with a state ceremony attended by Gov. Jennifer Granholm, the director of the U.S. Mint and other dignitaries. But the coin won't be widely available to banks and collectors until the first week of February.
The quarter's design, which features the entire state and the five Great Lakes, has created a lot of excitement, state officials say.
“We are among very few states that show the actual outline of the state and nothing else,” said Sarah Lapshan, the spokeswoman for the Michigan Department of History, Arts and Libraries.

When Jim first began dating Lisa, he wanted to impress her with his Corvette. Instead of going outside through the front door of the house, she led him through the garage and what a surprise!! Lisa and Jim decorated their house for months in anticipation of moving in after their marriage ceremony. They have a new mini lop bunny rabbit (black), Onyx. It is now full grown at 4 lbs. and still is having a problem with the chewing.

Lisa has been anxiously awaiting for DAR to approve her application. Her Aunt Laurie received information that her application was verified October 14, 2002 and National Board of Management issued her National Number: 814647 on December 7, 2002. An interesting date, wouldn't you say!

Lisa and Jim had an enjoyable 10 days in England.

Marriage: The reception was held at Warren Golf Club. Lisa "threw" her bouquet into the hands of her sister, Lucia. Jim "tossed" Lisa's garter into the hands of Dr. Bobby Meehan, Lucia's date. Dr. Bobby seemed unable to believe what was happening as he placed the garter on Lucia's leg. The DJ did a great job of keeping the guests on the dance floor - and sometimes not on the dance floor.
