Death: Carmen died of a coronary thrombosis due to congenitive heart failure and hypertensive heart disease. She was a diabetic. At the time of her death Carmen was 59 yrs, 9 mos, 18 days old.

Family
Marriage: Carmen and John Smetana were presumed childless until their niece, Laurie SCARPACE McKenzie found a grave at Grand Lawn Cemetery for a daughter Gertrude. They always had a small dog as a companion. Family photos show many family get-togethers at their cottage near Monroe on Lake Erie.
