Elisabeth (Kash) Salyer's book on the Salyer family has a section on the Saylors. It gives the census listing for this family from the 1880 Magoffin Co. KY source. Martin Saylor was age 50, wife Clerinda (Salyer) was age 47, and their children were Henry age 18, Haley age 14, Mary age 16, Zachariah Neuton Saylor age 12, Matthew age 9, and Lucenia (or Serena) age 7. Our Conley book on page 180 shows Zachariah Newton Saylor b. 1858, son of Clarinda Salyer and Martin Saylor. Clarinda was the dau of Henry Salyer and Elizabeth Conley who was the 6th child of Edmond Conley and Lydia Joynes. <b>ETHEL HAYSLIP</b>
<b>Ethel Elizabeth Hayslip</b> (nee <b>Conley</b>), <b>77</b>, of Lorain, passed away Thursday morning, <b>October 5, 2000</b>, unexpectedly at Community Health Partners in Lorain. Mrs. Hayslip was <b>born in Portsmouth OH</b>, and moved to Lorain 53 years ago with her husband, <b>Roy</b>. Together they raised four children. Ethel and Roy loved to work in their garden together. Ethel was a talented cook and gardener and gave her love and energies to making her family happy. She leaves behind many loved-ones. Survivors are her son, <b>Lamont C. Hayslip</b> of Lorain; twin daughters, <b>Marylou Kucera</b> of Lorain, <b>Martha Fite</b> of Lorain and <b>Donna Maholic</b> of Lorain; two sisters, Mrs. <b>Mae Englebrecht</b> of Portsmouth OH, and Mrs. <b>Garnet Allen</b> of Grove City OH; <b>12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren</b>; and best friend, Onalee Mackey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Roy, in 1978, her father, <b>Leck Conley</b>, her mother, <b>Mary Conley (nee Shepherd)</b>, brothers <b>William, Ellis, Arthur and Troy</b>, and sisters <b>Ann Gulick, Leona Hopkins, Esther Gregorac and Lonnie Carmen</b>. Private services were held at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 E. 31st St., South Lorain OH. Fr. James Ols officiated, Pastor of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Elyria Township. Burial was at <b>Ridge Hill Memorial Park</b>, reuniting Ethel and Roy on what would have been their <b>53rd wedding anniversary</b>. Ethel was surrounded by her 4 children and most of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was able to hear our 'good-bye's and 'I love you's and responded to each of us. No mother was ever loved more and we can only learn from her example.
