Marriage Note
From Floyd Co. marriage records: Johnson Whitaker, residing Floyd Co., age 26 years, 2nd marriage, farmer, born Floyd Co., parents both born Floyd Co. was married to Caroline Greer, residing Floyd County, age 30 years, 1st marriage, born Ash Co., North Carolina, father born Ash Co., N.C., mother born Iadel (?) Co., North Carolina.
Another letter from Judy -?- (I misplaced the envelope), asked for help on identifying Samuel Howard's 2nd wife Mary Calloway. Mary was born in North Carolina. Judy thinks Mary's first husband was a Calloway and that she was a Greer before her marriage to the unknown Calloway. Judy's great grandmother was Laura Calloway b. ca. 1860. Her grandfather's death certificate says his mother is Laura Greer but the marriage certificate for Laura and William Marsillett in 1881 Floyd Co. KY gives her name as Laura Calloway.spouse: Howard, Samuel (1820 - ~1890)
Samuel Howard first married Delaney Jones. The 1880 Magoffin census lists Samuel Howard at age 68, wife Mary (Greer or Calloway) age 40, with Joseph age 4 (a son of Sam Howard and Jane Stone), Ida age 4, and a child not named age 1.
The 1870 Floyd census lists James Greer, age 59, b. NC, Eliza (McGuire) age 62, b. NC, Mary Conway (Calloway?), age 25, b. NC, Jane age 12, Luana (Laura?) age 9, and James E. age 6. Laura married William Marsillett in 1881 according to the 1900 Floyd County KY census on page 59.
The 1880 Floyd census has James Greer, Sr. age 69, Eliza age 72, and a grandson James Greer, Jr. age 17.
I think Mary was a Greer who married a Calloway, but who was this Calloway?

29 Feb 1944: Obituary of her daughter, Josephine "Jesse" Mascari Caito, notes that her mother, Anna, was still living at the time of Josephine's death (her father, Frank, was already deceased according to the obit). Death certificate of Josephine (on file) lists her mother's name as "Guglimino." Obituary of Anna (July 2, 1950) lists a sister with the name Mrs. Guiseppa "Guglielmino." The spelling in Anna's obituary is probably the more correct one. However, it would be unusual for Anna's sister to have the same married name as her maiden name. The death certificate of her son, Samuel [on file - died May 29, 1973 (and Josephine's brother)] lists his mother's maiden name as "Williams." The maiden name "Williams" would make more sense since she has brothers by the name of "Williams" (and also 'LaNasa") and this would make sense for her sister to have a married name of Guglielmino (as HER maiden name would have been "Williams").
1 Jul 1950: Obituary notes that she is survived by her six daughters: Misses Anna, Mary, Geraldine, Alice Mascari and Mrs. Sullivan Parisi of Waterford and Mrs. Frederick (Florence) Brooks. Also, four sons: Samuel, Charles, Anthony, Joseph, all of Wilkes-Barre, PA. Also, a sister: Mrs. Giuseppa Guglielmino of ITALY and three brothers: Anthony Williams, Frank LaNasa and Philip Lanasa of Geneva (NY?). Also, nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral was on Wednesday July 5, 1950 from her home at 563 Delaware Street at 8:15 AM and from St. Lucy's Church at 9:00 AM. Funeral through Pirro & Sons Funeral Service. Burial in St. Agnes' Cemetery, Syracuse, NY.
4 Nov 1998: Burial plot diagram lists her name as "Anne Marie Mascari"Event Funeral - [date: 5 JUL 1950] [place: Syracuse, Onondaga Co, NY at St Lucy's Catholic Church]
06-06-1999: In a conversation with Alyce Mascari Sansone (niece of Giuseppa), Alyce noted that Giuseppa married Rosario Mascari, but was widowed before 1950 and reverted to using her maiden name after her husbands death. (Hence, she is referred to as "Mrs Giuseppa Guglielmino" in her sister's (Anna Marie Mascari) obituary in July of 1950.spouse: Mascari, Rosario (? - <1950)
06-23-1999: Obituary of her half-brother, Frank LaNasa, who died on November 21, 1950 in Syracuse, lists a surviving half-sister in Italy named Mrs. Josephine Mascari who I'm sure is Giuseppa.
09-22-1999: Research Report from Kathy Kirkpatrick to Phil Sansone located the births of the children of Girolama Sansone and Salvatore Guglielmino. Giuseppa's birth was not found but we think Giuseppa was older that Anna. If so, the only time she could have been born was between Dec 1872 and Dec 1873.
09-22-1999: Genealogy research report from Kathy Kirkpatrick to Phil Sansone from a search in the Termini Birth of 1867-1877 (LDS Library Microfilm #2014202), located the birth of Giusppe Guglielmino on 8 February 1872. He was the son of Girolama Sansone, daughter of Filippo, 30 years old (b. abt. 1842), wife of Salvatore Guglielmino, son of Giuseppe, 37 yrs old (b. abt. 1835), fisherman, living in Termini. The birth was reported by Giuseppa Cianciolo Sansone, 60 years (b. abt. 1812), living in Termini. She was the child's maternal grandmother.
06-06-1999: In a lunch conversation with Alyce Mascari Sansone, niece of husband Mascari, Alyce notes that he died before 1950 and after that, his wife Giuseppa, reverted to using her maiden name. Hence, Giuseppa is referred to as "Mrs. Giuseppa Guglielmino" in her sister's (Anna Marie Mascari) obituary.
----------child: Guglielmino-Williams, Charles (*1871 - )Marriage Note
09-22-1999: Genealogy Research Report by Kathy Kirkpatrick located the intent to marry in the Termini Marriage Promises from 1862-1874 (LDS Library MIcrofilm #2014480) on February 14, 1871 for Salvatore Guglielmino and Girolama Sansone. The groom was a single male, 37 yrs old (b. abt. 1834), fisherman, born and living in Termini, the son of Giuseppe Guglielmino and Anna Cianciolo, living in the same place. The bride was the widow of Iganzio la Nasa, born and living in Termini, the daughter of Filippo Sansone and of Giuseppa Cianciolo, living in Termini. The second announcement was made on February 26, 1871 and the third announcement was made on March 2, 1871, after which the marriage could occur.

02-10-1999: Information supplied by St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt, NY indicates that Philip was 15 months old and buried on June 6, 1944. His address at the time of death was 118 Rodeo, Syracuse, NY.
02-10-1999: Information supplied by Phil Sansone (b. 1919), which in turn was supplied by Jeroma Gustke, indicates that Phillip died on February 2, 1944. This would make him 11 months old. This is a significant discrepancy on the dates. He could possibly have been buried elsewhere and then moved several months later, or possibly, they may not have buried individuals during the winter (February) at that time, and instead did the burials in the Spring and Summer (June).Burial - [date: 6 JUN 1944] [place: DeWitt, Onondaga Co, NY at St Mary's Cemetery]
