In May 2000, Lauren and his father participated in the One Lap of America race. Beginning in Grand Haven, MI, the rally/race was to take 6 days/nights through several states with track races at various points along the way. Most of the driving was during nights. Unfortunately, the car broke down on the third day. Lauren and Fred had to rent a trailer and bring the car home to make repairs. They returned to the race when disaster struck the second time. A fire started in the floorboard. Although Lauren was burned on his leg, the burn was not serious - but they were out of the race. There is always next year!Birth Note

Your duties are many, Madam President

Issues and problems vital to all of us
Help appoint committees and go to convention
Do hundreds of things we've no time to mention.

And the club's good wishes we give to you.
You'll handle your duties with patience and tact
Be quick to listen and slow to act.

Our faith goes with you in all you must do.

Lucia's youngest two siblings Leah and Lauren were also in the wedding party. Bobby's mother, step-father and father were in attendance. Between the ceremony and the reception guests were invited back to Lucia's mother's house for beverages and snacks. The reception was held at the Fairlane Club in Dearborn with good food, good company and music to round out the evening. Sunday, 12 Aug 2001 was the afterglow at Lucia's father's cottage near Brooklyn, MI, in the Irish Hills. Whew! The bride and groom were smiling throughout all the days' and evenings' activities, finally departing for their week long honeymoon on Santa Lucia Island on Monday, 13 Aug 2001.

Sal and Dorothy met at the Greystone Ballroom on Thanksgiving Day during a leave from the service. His brother Bill and he went there in the evening. Sal spotted Dorothy, asked her to dance, she refused. He asked her later, she refused again. He finally asked her why she was there. She said: not to dance with him! Eventually the evening came to an end. Sal offered to drive Dorothy and her friend home - they lived in a boarding house for women - no men allowed inside. The girls had an 11:00 curfew - although the rules were bent once in a while. In spite of her refusal to dance that Thanksgiving evening, Sal persevered and they dated, and eventually they were married.

Helena's birth certificate has her name as Vincenza (after her father's mother-Vincenza LONGO Scarpace) Maria (after her mother). Helena's father Frank, however, decided to call her Helena - after King Emmanuel of Italy's daughter, Princess Helena even though on his citizrenship papers Frank renounced "absolutely and forever" any allegiance to Victor Emmanuel III, King of Italy. In the Scarpace family, Helena is our Queen - the matriarch of the family!
Divorce - [date: ABT 1954] [place: Detroit, Wayne Co, MI]
Marriage Note
Helena told her niece Laurie [SCARPACE] McKenzie she was planning to marry in 1950 but the marriage was moved up because her sister, Rosina, was getting married in May and their mother, Maria, said that Rosina and Tom were going to live with her. Therefore, Helena had to move out of the family home on Central for that to happen.

The following was posted to the internet by Phillip Sansone (philipjr@netchannel.net) April 1998:spouse: Cianciolo, Giovanni (~1780 - ~1830)
My father was Filippo Sansone, b. 1884. Immigrated to the US in 1899 with his brother Francesco. Their father was Giovanni b. May 1853 who married Pietra D'Amore, born in 1856. Her parents were Fancesco D'Amore b. abt 1818 and Margarita Corso b. 1829. Giovanni's father was Filippo b. abt 1813. His wife was Giuseppa Cianciolo b. abt 1813. Her mother was Lucia Scarpace b. abt 1793.
It is known that both my grandfather Giovanni, and my great grandfather Filippo had several brothers, but have not been able to identify but one, a brother of my great grandfather Filippo who was named Antonio. Antonio also had a son who he also named Giovanni who was born the same year as my grandfather, Giovanni, 1853.
This indicates, that in accordance with Sicilian custom that the first born son be named after his grandfather, that the name of my great great grandfather's (Filippo-1813) father was Giovanni. Confused?
Looking for brothers of my grandfather Giovanni (b. 1813) and his father, Filippo (1813).
All lived in Termini Imerese. My grandfather remarried after the death of Pietra and had two children from that marriage, Anthony and Josephine. Josephine married a Palmisano and had at least two children Giovanni and Salvatore both of whom now would be in their 70's
